The Pacific
I doubt The Pacific can be as good as Band of Brothers, but I will be watching in 2010 to find out. Just reading through the Wikipedia article on The Pacific, a lot of the filming has taken place right here in Melbourne. We saw them blocking off Flinders Street stations for a few scenes.
Tweed VS Pea (3 Days of the Condor)
People were blogging about this a while ago, but I only just got around to re-watching 3 Days of the Condor (a 1975 espionage film starring Robert Redford). Redford wears some nice clothes, and the movie is great too. I remember back when I originally saw the film, I wanted Redford’s herringbone tweed jacket. I [...]

Michel Gondry x Levis
I guess I’m very late on this one. Incredible video that Michel Gondry made for Levis. It has a great feel, and really looks old. Wikipedia: According to the Guinness World Records 2004, Michel Gondry’s Levi’s 501 Jeans “Drugstore” spot holds the record for “Most awards won by a TV commercial”.[2] The commercial was never [...]
Vito Corleone Wardrobe
The Godfather II has some great period clothing. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071562/ Robert De Niro as Vito Corleone sports some nice caps, braces, long johns, shirts with a variety of collars (big, rounded, and no collar). You should dress like this when you are starting your own underground organised criminal society. Check out the Godfather series if you [...]
Gift suggestion: Band of Brothers Blu-Ray
Sorry for the break in postings. I’ve been busy moving house. Here’s something I recommend you get. I’ve had this Band of Brothers blu-ray box set for a few weeks now, and I’m half-way through. If you’ve seen the series before, you know how good it is, but the added extras in the blu-ray version [...]
Ralph Lauren Interview 1993
I saw this a while ago, and lost track of which blog I found it on. Sorry. It’s an hour long interview with Ralph. He talks about a lot of things which are quite interesting. It was nice to hear the discussion around whether Ralph is a designer because it is reasonably valid that he [...]
Video: Tokyo Eye Denim Special
I found this video via the superfuture forums. It has a nice long segment on Japanese denim presented by Gordon Heffner from BIG in New York. It looks like he goes to Hinoya in Ueno. And I believe there is some background to the story of Gordon hurting his hand. I think he did this [...]
Movie: Blue Jean Confidential CBC Documentary
If you haven’t seen this documentary you can watch it online here: http://www.cbc.ca/documentaries/confidential/bluejean_video.html It’s quite good. It includes interviews with Adriano Goldschmied, Lynn Downey and James Sullivan. And the makers even travelled to Kojima japan to check out the Rampuya and interview some hardcore collectors.
Some Aircraft videos (Updated)
Here are a couple of neat flight videos. Dramatic footage of some Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress and their crews. The music is quiet, but suits the subject matter. The next video is much louder, so watch your volume control. NASA X-15 Rocket Plane 1959 to R.L. Burnside I’ll be going to the Avalon Airshow this [...]
