The Levi’s game is named after an imaginary 19th-century figure, Grayson Ozias IV, or G. O. the Fourth – as in “Go Forth” … get it? The “Go Forth” campaign is being created by Wieden & Kennedy in Portland, Ore.

Ozias is described as a friend of a nephew of Levi Strauss, the (real) founder of the Levi’s parent, Levi Strauss & Company; the gold rush drew Strauss to California, where he opened a dry goods business and later sold denim pants.

There will be four phases to the game, which is to conclude in mid-November when a final challenge will be revealed to the 100 finalists who make it through the first three phases. The first of the 100 who figures out the last piece of the puzzle gets to dig up a steel box with the $100,000 inside.

I guess I’m very late on this one. Incredible video that Michel Gondry made for Levis. It has a great feel, and really looks old.

Levis are running a reproduction of the oldest known jeans, the Nevada. Older jeans were lost in the San Francisco Earthquake fires. These originals were found down a mineshaft in the Nevada desert. Hence the name.

These replicas are on sale in Japan in a limited (150) box set (60,000 JPY) with some awesome leather suspenders. They’ve sold out of my size.

This book has been discontinued/sold-out, so I ordered a second-hand copy from overseas. When the title says “The Official History of the Levi’s Brand” I was expecting timelines, dates and information. Not so. What you get is big pictures of jeans, letters, receipts, Levis advertisments, and people wearing jeans, but most of the interesting pictures have had weird colour treatments, and the textual information has had excessive layout font and colour treatment so that it has become impossible to read.

A better title for this would be “The Big Colour Layout Disappointment“.

Here are some examples of what I mean.
